ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corporation is a Philippine-based multi-media conglomerate. It is an integrated media and entertainment company in the Philippines with 42 subsidiaries and an asset base of more than PHP34 billion (US$707.09 million) as of March 2009.

ABS-CBN is principally involved in television and radio broadcasting, as well as the production of television programming for domestic and international audiences and other related businesses.

It was founded on June 13, 1946 (62), becoming Asia's first commercial television broadcaster in 1953. It is part of the Lopez Group of Companies. It also broadcasts content to the rest of the world through The Filipino Channel (TFC Direct), TFCko (video on demand) and TFCnow internet TV.

Walt Disney is readying a Broadway adaptation of its popular flick musical franchise, High School Musical. We hear Bailey Hanks, the star of Broadway’s closing Legally Blonde: The Musical, will play “Sharpay,” a role made famous by Ashley Tisdale, in the upcoming stage production.

Popstar AVRIL LAVIGNE has earned $1 million from people watching the video to her hit single GIRLFRIEND online.The promotion has clocked over 100 million views on video sharing site YouTube.com since it was posted on the web by RCA record company executives last year (2007) and Avril Lavigne's earnings have rocketed as a result.

Every time the video is viewed, an advert is played and the singer receives a fee, reports Gigwise.com.

Lil Wayne's Tha Carter III Tops The Billboard 200 Album Chart Again! Coldplay and Lil Wayne have swapped places again this week on The Billboard 200 chart of albums. Lil Wayne's Tha Carter III debuted at No. 1 on the chart and might have stayed there if not for Coldplay's Viva La Vida or Death And All His Friends, which also debuted at No. 1 the following week.

Coldplay stayed on top last week, but this week Lil Wayne has taken over the top spot again. Tha Carter III is at No. 1 after four weeks on the chart. Viva is in at No. 2, followed by the soundtrack for the Disney Channel Original Movie "Camp Rock." The movie stars teen phenomena the Jonas Brothers.

New to the chart this week is hip-hop group G Unit's second studio album, T.O.S. (Terminate On Sight). The new release has debuted at No. 4. John Mayer's new release, Where The Light Is: John Mayer Live In Los Angeles, also made its debut this week. The live CD/DVD combo is in at No. 5.

Now, Vol 28 is at No. 6 again this week. The pop music mix that features hits from Leona Lewis, Britney Spears, Lil Wayne, Chris Brown, Gavin DeGraw and others has been on the chart for five weeks now, peaking at No. 2 Albums from Kid Rock, Usher, Rihanna and Disturbed make up the rest of the chart, respectively.
